The Broadwater Flower Boat

This is a huge thank you to everyone in Broadwater who made a contribution towards the flowers and plants in the boat opposite the Cricketers Pub. The collection boxes in the Co-Op store and the pub itself are making a valuable contribution to the cost of maintaining and replanting this lovely feature which is such an attractive sight as you go through the village. ALL THAT SMALL CHANGE MOUNTS UP! A massive thank you to Eric Mardell our President and his wife Liz who planted the boat up in such a wonderful colourful display!

Refurbishments

Coming soon will be 5g digital and Wifi once City Fibre are able to install the infrastructure.

Since our last update the Parish rooms have had a complete overhaul of the electrics throughout the building as well as a new heating system, powered by an air source heat pump to help reduce our carbon footprint. BCA and Worthing Borough Council contributed to the cost.

We have also completely renewed the kitchen which now includes a dishwasher, new tiling, kitchen cupboards, storage units, worktops, heaters and sinks. BCA paid for the upgrade entirely.

In the next year we hope to renew the toilets to include a disabled toilet and changing facility.

The Parish Rooms had a new lick of paint before the pandemic and now looks decidedly bright and cheerful. We have also installed ramps inside the main hall to help anyone with a wheelchair or reduced mobility over the little steps between rooms. There is one from the side door to the garden and one from the main hall across the step that leads to the kitchen area and toilets. If you have any suggestions of other improvements we can look at, please let one of the committee members know or email chairmanbca@ntlworld.com.

Other news

The BCA committee was active in fighting against the installation of a 5G mast on Cricketers parade. Two different heights were proposed and after preparing an online petition where nearly 500 people objected to the mast, planning permission was denied for both.
